As a lover of fashion, I knew the Dior Exhibition was going to be great, but little did I know it was going to be exceptionally breathtaking. From the moment we walked into the doors of the NGV, we were transported to a place of serenity, grace and class.
Marking the 70th anniversary of The House of Dior, the exclusive exhibition included a display of more than 140 garments designed by Dior Couture from 1947 to 2017.
However, it was more than just an exhibition of haute couture; it was a celebration of history, showcasing different eras of fashion, sophistication and elegance. After Christian Dior’s death in 1957, six designers including Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri played key roles in shaping the renowned fashion silhouette.
With all the wonderful designs on display, you could see why Christian Dior was a mastermind in the fashion industry. With his gowns carefully constructed with architecture in mind, The House of Dior has shaped the way we see fashion today and seventy years on, Dior continues to have relevance.
After a wonderful season which had sadly come to an end, below you can experience some of the exquisite pieces showcased in the successful exhibition that made me appreciate this fashion house more and more.
